I was born and raised in Lexington SC. When I started at Southern Way Catering 15 years ago, I had no Idea what all was involved in catering events. The more I learned the more I fell in love with the job and the possibilities. When I became part of the logistics team 5 years ago as Loadlist Coordinator and Assistant Creative Designer, I realized how much I enjoyed being a part of the process from start to finish. It allows me to use my creativity with designing displays and all of the fun projects that we find on Pinterest.

I love seeing an event come to together, especially out-of-town events. My favorite memory here at Southern Way would have to be my first house party in Charleston! The people I work with and our fun environment is the biggest reason I love working here. Not everyone can say that they enjoy their job but, I feel blessed that I can say I do. I have learned to work and stay positive while doing it!

I really enjoy traveling, renovations, spending time with family, summertime cookouts, and fishing with the kids when I’m not working!

Logistics Manager, Athletics Division

Location: Columbia

Though relatively new to my role as the Logistics Manager for our Athletics Division, I have been a member of the Southern Way team since 2018.

I was born and raised in Saint George, SC, so southern hospitality runs in my blood! I graduated from the University of South Carolina with my Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management in 2019. My passion for the Gamecocks and my love of a fast-paced environment makes my role in the Athletics Division a perfect fit. The best part of the role I play in Southern Way is getting to be hands on with each and every event our division handles. I get to perfectly tailor each suite set up and event floor plan to the clients specific needs to ensure it meets their desired vision (not to mention all the heavy lifting day in and day out means I get to skip the gym).

My favorite thing about being a part of the Southern Way family is the people. I have so many great memories from my four years here and it is largely due to the folks I get to work with every day. Southern Way has taught me a lot about the catering and hospitality field and how to make events run successfully, but most the most important lesson I’ve learned during my tenure is you have to put in the work to achieve something great, and nothing is handed to you. It doesn’t matter if it’s a football game day or an intimate wedding I know that it will be a memorable experience because of the people I am surrounded by.

When I’m not working, I love hunting, fishing, playing golf, watching football and hanging with friends. Though I am wired to work 24/7, a good long nap is my perfect end to a busy day!

I am originally from Dothan, Alabama. I am a military brat, so I went to schools all over the southwest and southeast. I joined the Southern Way Catering team in the fall of 2021 and have since been able to train as an Event Manager and a KB

My favorite thing about working for Southern Way is the team mentality we all have. The team we have part time and full time is unmatched to other companies. There are too many good memories to count, but the happiness we bring each other and the relationships I have built with others in the company are unforgettable.

In this industry, you must be able to roll with the punches and always be prepared for a change.

I was born and raised in Columbia, SC. I graduated from W.S. Keenan High School, and decided upon graduation that I wanted to dive straight into the work force. I joined the Southern Way Catering team in May of 2021 as an Event Floor Staff. In October of 2021 I joined the SWC team full time as a member of the logistics department.

My full-time commitment is to our Logistics team and I love the crew I work with. We’re a small team and we mesh so well together. Every party that leaves our shop, we put our hands on so I get a hand in helping make an enjoyable event experience for every single client.

Even though I work in logistics, I’m pretty diverse with my skills. I have a passion for working events and I thoroughly enjoy them!

If I had to pick a favorite type of event, I wouldn’t be able too. I love them all! My top favorites are weddings, house parties and Bar Mitzvahs. The atmosphere is unmatched, and it always feels like you are a part of the party you are working, so it’s always a good time.

When I am not working you can find me spending time with my family or gaming.

I am from Columbia, SC. I graduated from Clemson University in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in Parks, Recreation, Tourism Management. I joined the Southern Way team in 2004 as the Operations Manager. I have now been in the Finance Department since 2010. I’m hardly ever at events, I’m always behind the scenes now working in the finance department. Even though I am not at events, I enjoy trying to give the customers a seamless experience, even though they are paying the bill! I also enjoy working on growing the business by developing financial budgets and plans.

Southern Way is a wonderful company that provides the utmost in customer service, with exceptional quality of food and overall client experience. While hospitality is a tough business to work in with long hours, Southern Way finds time to reward their employees and make it fun.

I have so many memories from Southern Way! The most memorable one was a large event for thousands of people on top of a mountain in NC. We had over 100 staff members working. We had to “build” a kitchen from scratch and the event took place under enormous tents. The weather turned out warm & beautiful that day and the event was a huge success. At the end of the event, when it was time for our staff to leave after clean up, a terrible thunderstorm came through that kept us stranded in the tent because the bus couldn’t make it down the mountain in the bad weather. It was a little scary, but very memorable. We made the most of it and everyone made it home safely. The next morning as we packed up the remainder of equipment, it started snowing.

When I’m not crunching numbers, I’m a Volunteer Regional Director with a dog rescue, so I’m always out rescuing dogs when I’m not working or playing with my 4 dogs that I have. I also enjoy time on the lake and boating.

VP of Accounting

Location: Columbia

I’m from Aiken, SC. I studied Accounting and have worked in the accounting field since 1982. I’ve been working with Southern Way in the Finance Department since 2012 as a part-time employee, but have been full-time with SWC since January 2019. I have always enjoyed working with “the numbers” and I really enjoy being able to help analyze the financial details.

Joining the Southern Way team was an easy choice. They provide exceptional service to their clients and they truly care for their employees.

I am an “Ammy” to three beautiful Grandbabies and I enjoy spending as much time with them as I can. My “happy place” is on the beach with a book.

I was Born in Queens, New York and went to college at St. John’s University. After college, I worked in US Navy Aviation from 1989-2005. A few years later in 2013, I started with Southern Way Catering in the Finance Department. Subsequently, I have held multiple positions within SWC such as: Event Manager, Administrative Assistant, Sales Coordinator, Director of Hospitality of the Pastides Alumni Center and most recently have found my way back to the Finance Department as the Finance Manager.

I absolutely love my job because we contribute positive vibes to People’s lives. What starts out as notes on a paper end up as permanent memories of happy times. At Southern Way, we always figure out how to beautifully put together an event. Collaboration between a creative sales team, a talented kitchen team, and a strategic logistics team results in some amazing ideas and executions you might have thought were impossible. I love moments when you are standing face to face with a coworker, and you both are looking at each other with the same “Wow, we did it!’ look on your faces!

Unusual events are my favorite, hands down. I love how we can transform a meeting space into a brewery, a chapel, a concert, a fashion show or a lush garden, complete with Fountains! We will go from feeding emergency workers in a makeshift dining area in the middle of a Hurricane to serving a five-course meal to hundreds of diners on a windy bridge. Our company and team that supports it will always amaze me.

When I am not working, I enjoy family time, cooking/watching cooking shows, kayaking, and loving on my 9 pets. Yep, Nine.

Event Manager

I was born in Holly Hill, SC. I studied Sociology at Lander but decided after two years that college was not for me. I later became a Master Barber and made men and women gorgeous for over 20 years. In 2012 I tried college one last time and obtained an Associates Degree in Human Services.

Approximately 18 years ago I made a spur of the moment decision to join the Hospitality industry and my first event with SW was unforgettable to say the least. I wore the wrong shoes to my first event and paid dearly for it, “my dogs were barking” for a week after and it was a lesson learned.

There is never a dull moment with the SW team. The comradery with my fellow workers is my most favorite part. While its business in the front, there’s generally always a party in the back.

My most favorite event is a house party! Not only are house parties more intimate but you get to know the host(s) on a more personal level as oppose to a business standpoint. The most important part of my job is making sure our client(s) and guests have an unforgettable event experience so I always do my very best to make sure they are very well taken care of.

In my spare time, I visit my 3 grandbabies in Hilton Head and we enjoy beach trips as often as possible. Family time is a priority. Not only do I enjoy time with my grands but I enjoy spending time with my friends drinking good margaritas. Grandbabies are a blast and my friends are a good time but my pup dog Charlie, is the best company. He listens and doesn’t talk back. What more could you ask for? We enjoy long walks in the neighborhood.

“Life is short. Eat dessert first.”
