The long, drawling, hot days of summer are slowly slipping away as the cool autumn has started to roll into town. The days are beginning to get shorter, the beach towels have been packed away for next summer’s vacation and both students and teachers alike are settling into daily routines in their classrooms.
At Southern Way Catering, we are knee deep in one of our favorite times of the year: football season!
Did you know? We cater at all of the University of South Carolina home games in each of the suites. Our menu selection ranges from Deep Fried Chicken Tenders and Grilled Hamburger Bars to Sliced Beef Brisket and Shrimp and Grits Bars, along with an assortment of sweets and USC Themed Petit Fours.
You can dress up your tailgate with items from our menu, too. Our Good to Go Menu (http://thesouthernway.com/menu_category/good-to-go/
) provides an assortment of cheeses, spreads and finger foods that go perfectly with a tailgate outside of Williams Brice. We offer tailgate staples like Pimento Cheese, Chicken Salad, Ham Biscuits and BBQ Pork. You can make your game day so much more convenient (and delicious!) with our Good to Go Menus.
Staying at home and hosting your friends to watch the big game? We can even help you out there! Here’s a recipe from Chef Michael Stuckey for you to enjoy on game day:
Spicy Honey Chicken Wings with Black Garlic Ranch
5 pounds of chicken wings
1 pint of honey
1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes
3 cloves of black garlic
1 pint of ranch (either store bought or made from a mix)
Boil chicken wings for 10 minutes and cool on a sheet pan in a refrigerator. While they are cooling, mix together the honey with the red pepper flakes to form the wing sauce. Combine the black garlic with the ranch in a food processor. Once the wings are cooled, cook in oven at 400 degrees until crispy (about 15 minutes). Toss crispy wings in the spicy honey sauce and serve with the black garlic ranch.
Happy Game Day!
