Part-Time Event Cook

Description:   This person should ensure that appropriate sanitation rules are followed, and this should include: DHEC and more importantly quality of product.

 

Part-time Event Cooks will have a schedule that is flexible in relation to the volume and timing of events to produce and should expect to have varying hours as event schedules demand. Weekly schedule will be managed by your supervisor, Michael Stuckey and will be sent to your email by the scheduling coordinator Tarrin Knight.

 

Company Expectations:  Southern Way Catering expects this individual to successfully help execute events.  This person should have the ability to effectively interface with others.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Follow recipes and execute cook plans as directed
  • Clean and maintain food areas and cooking surfaces, during and after preparation
  • Working parties as needed/scheduled by your supervisor
  • Practice safe handling of food and equipment

Required Qualifications and Education: 

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., bend, stretch, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs, reach, twist, sit, walk, and/or run
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Must be able to wake up early, arrive on time and stay late (as needed)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Staffing Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Post open positions and collect resumes to present to the HR Manager for review
  • Participate in hiring efforts to include: social media job posting, recruiting and hiring fairs, etc.
  • Complete weekly and preliminary schedule
  • Enforce uniform standards, as well as keeping inventory of shirts and aprons
  • Constantly communicate with all part time staff regarding schedules and event details by phone or email.
  • Captain on an as needed basis
  • Train (on site) at events, new Event Floor Staff as well as captains
  • Constantly communicate with Sales Reps, kitchen and logistics regarding information necessary to complete weekly schedule
  • Be on call as needed
  • Anything additional deemed necessary by management

Hospitality Liaison

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Keeping food & beverage stations full and clean
  • Set up and break down food stations
  • Picking up trash and keeping the tables and venue as clean as possible
  • Perform side work by helping to provide a safe and clean work environment
  • Dress and appearance are consistent with SWC standards
  • Punctuality and consistent attendance
  • Any other duties requested by management 

Required Qualifications and Education: 

  • Hospitality and/or food service experience, requested (not required)
  • Must be able to understand simple instructions
  • Strong communication skills
  • Available to work nights and weekends
  • Must be able to walk/stand for significant amount of time throughout the event
  • Must be able to work in hot, cold, non-air conditioned environments
  • Must be able to regularly & repetitively bend, carry, club, grasp, kneel, lift, pull, push, reach, sit, and twist
